What do you say we open the box of memories? How about a stroll down the Past Avenue? “There they go, there they go”… The new Queensryche single, off their, sixteenth, upcoming studio album, “Digital Noise Alliance”, is a fragile song. A balaDream. “Forest” is a sweet melodical passage, a bouquet of trees disguised as notes and words. “Is this real or in my mind”?
I got to listen to that song a bunch of times. Just wanted to listen some more, to find something new. Something I couldn’t hear over the previous listening session. And every time I would find something new. The story is touching, it’s something which has happened to all of us. People we miss, moments we miss. And moments ARE people. This bittersweet libretto is portrayed over video tape footage. The beach, the sea, the feeling that… Well, there they went, there they went…
We hear Todd’s voice with a small effect during the first verse. Then it’s his natural voice color. Warm and surrounding. Backing vocals are divine and totally elevate the lyrical part to a mostly touching soundtrack dimension. The rhythm section – Eddie Jackson and Casey Grillo – is uniquely bonding and guitars are so lyrical. Master Whip is delivering a breathtaking thematic solo, whilst Stoney is elegantly playing a 12-string guitar.
Queensryche’s music has always been food for thought. With such songs they were succeeding in making us think about all those moments… Time frames which we will never forget. It’s a song that will make many eyes water, it’s a genuine source of tears. And tears are good for the eyes, ryche?

Leaves blow away, there they go, there they go Please won’t you stay, don’t you know, I couldn’t miss you anymore
I can feel you all around One more sign tonight Make a sound or dim the lights
(Ah ah ah) Help me find a way Yesterday’s a memory, but it’s all I have today
Seasons they change, nice and slow, don’t you know Tides rolling in, ebb and flow, can swallow you then let you go
I can feel you all around One more sign tonight Is this real or in my mind
(Ah ah ah) Help me find a way (Ah ah ah) Through this maze of misery (Ah ah ah) Lost without a trace Yesterday’s a memory and tomorrow’s too far away
Feed the senses, take what cleanses your soul
(Ah ah ah) Help me find a way (Ah ah ah) Through this maze of misery (Ah ah ah) Lost without a trace Come see me in my dreams
