Τον Αύγουστο του 2019 ταξιδέψαμε στην Κόρινθο, στο Wreck it Sound Studios, για να ηχογραφήσουμε το single μας “Sweetspot (Live Recording)” και το debut album μας “Aphasia (Live Recording)”, το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε και σε βινύλιο από την Electric Valley Records στις 6 Μαρτίου 2020 και έγινε sold out (Batch 300) σε 2 μήνες από την κυκλοφορία του. Το debut album μας πήρε πολύ καλές κριτικές από μεγάλα περιοδικά και blog της ροκ μουσικής σκηνής, όπως Doomed and Stoned, Metal Hammer και Doom Charts.

Τον Μάρτη του 2019 είχαμε την πρώτη μεγάλη μας εμφάνιση στο εξωτερικό, παίζοντας στο SoundΑrt Festival 2019 στη Ρουμανία, μαζί με Planet of Zeus, Riverside, Sunnata and Weedpecker. Τον Γενάρη του 2020 είχαμε την ευκαιρία να μοιραστούμε τη σκηνή με τους Nightstalker στο DownTown στη Λευκωσία.

Stonus Lunar Eclipse (2018) Reviews:
Bucky (Ripple Music A&R) “Stonus literally stones us with a hazy load of fuzzy riffs torched in psychedelia and ashed with reverb. The bass hums a heavy groove as the guitars blaze with a crisp, pyrotechnic tone.”

More Fuzz: “Desert vibes with the right amount of psychedelia”

TEO Magazine: "Stonus has given us an EP to think about. On the first listen it’s simple, on the second it’s all loops, and on the third it’s hypnotising"
Sleeping Village Reviews: "While Stonus runs the gamut from hard rock to blatant psydoom, this EP is a gradual voyage that results in an updated approximation of the universe-traversing aesthetic. Stonus may not be innovators & wayfinders per se, but their ability to avoid getting lost in the stereotypical stoner doldrums is incredibly admirable--a trait that sets them far beyond their many colleagues in the genre."

Fuzzy Cracklings: "Lunar Eclipse: partly mellow, partly stoner, rocks out, gets a little chill, and all of that fits into a 25-minute EP."

7th level Music: "The title track is eight minutes of psychedelia that seems to drift on desert winds or across the Mediterranean Sea. The Middle Eastern-flavored guitar is a great touch and I love how Stonus doesn’t rush the track. It moves at a great pace best suited for introspection or feeling like a bad ass. "

Rocking in the brain: Psychedelic stoner / doom is a species that is now not easy to distinguish. Stonus is a band that really makes the difference. Their second EP is called " Lunar Eclipse " and was released on October 18, 2018. The influences are clear and non-exclusive ( Black Sabbath , Kyuss , Queens of the Stone Age, etc.), with their sound quite dirty and rotten! But here's the catch with the introductory “ Reflections ” with a spoken word (!) And an awesome atmosphere! The " Aspirin ”is heavy / fuzzy and addictive (strongly reminiscent of 1000 MODS ). The following track is a real revelation and I consider it to be the best of the EP , and I believe it is also the style the band should follow! " Spiritual Realities " is slow, doomy and has this sweet perversion of the early Witchcraft folk riffs ! Add the singing style to Dani (as well as the spoken word ), and you have a great sample of original psychedelic / stoner . The homonymous track could be said to be the bastard child of Naxatras and 1000 MODS , highly atmospheric, with proper scaling, while the EP will close with the orchestral / cinematic " Euphoric Misery " leaving it literally in the state it describes , with the need to hear the EP again from the beginning

Stonus Sweetspot (2020) Reviews:
Stoner Hive by JK: Stonus from Greece, that fabeled mythical country, captured by our very own Reek of STOOM on the Doomed and Stoned In Hellas compilation, is now situated in England, and their new single definitely hits the Sweetspot ! Indeed, it’s called Sweetspot and heralds the coming of their new album Aphasia soon to be released. Stonus is stoner and Stonus is bad ass! Five crazies who know how to tune dirty and sound filthy! Check out the amazing new single and be ready for the album!
Downtuned Magazine: The band has been quite active in the meantime with festival participations and live appearances and that is something that has obviously contributed to the further formation and evolution of their sound. Sweetspot is much heavier and more groovy compared to the style of songs the band has offered until now, their flirt with their 'desert side' is constantly here, if not amplified and technically the band seems to have made solid steps forward.
This single is actually giving me the impression that something has already changed (to the better) in the way the band works and this remain to be 100% proven, hopefully with a full release soon.
Steve Howie: Sweetspot is the new single from Psychedelic Stoner Rockers – Stonus – and it’s a heavy blast of old-school Psychedelic Desert/Stoner Rock with flashes of Alternative Rock and Doom based grooves allowing the band to have a heavier sound than you would expect. Sweetspot does have an a raw sounding appeal to it but it’s heavy from the start and allows the band to play a more powerful style of Psychedelic Stoner Rock/Metal.

Stonus Aphasia (2020) Reviews:
Metal Mixtape: Stonus are a (as the name suggests) a desert rock / garage rock / stoner rock band from Cyprus. They formed in 2015 and started playing shows, and getting busy by 2017. After recording a debut EP in 2018 this is their first full length. I’m told it was recorded more or less “live in the studio” which means they need to know their material. They combine a few different influences to create a ‘driving rock’ pulse to the sound with some more psychedelic / stoner /grunge lead guitars. This is not going to be everyone on this sites cup of mushroom tea but if you can listen with an open mind this is pretty good.
Stonus are a five piece. This gives them a depth whilst keeping a relaxed feel to the music. If you’re in the right mood can let yourself in for some epic grooves and riffs that just take you right away. This is actually pretty quality stuff! Production and execution are great on this record. The Biggest influences I can hear for me (as the casual stoner rock listener) would have the Kyuss in the music and for a while the singer sounds like early Ozzy in parts, but pretty original in most others.
The drums are powerful and have a relaxed feel to them for most of the album. The bass is loud and overdriven and fuzzy as hell. The bass and drums combined lay a solid foundation for the droning rhythm guitars. I love it when the lead guitars come in over the top of the rhythm it has a great jamming feel! Very organic sound to this lads! Again another great release and whilst I don’t think the band are doing anything hugely original they do it well. This is a good addition to a genre that at times can seem overcrowded. Robert Camassa (Music Producer/ Radio Producer at CyBC): "The fact that Stonus have been around for 6 years playing relatively regularly, has helped their chemistry as well as finding and settling into a sound that defines them. And that is a crucial lesson to all new bands out there who rush to the recording studio. From the crunching riffs of "Awake" to the trippy groove of "Nadir" (a personal favourite), Stonus have whipped up an explosive cocktail of fuzz, heaviness, psych, tripping and doom. There may be an unrelenting intensity about the music yet, their thoughtful compositions have an understanding of dynamics that add dramatic overtones. This album will rock your socks off! Oh, and how about the fabulous cover...the band is pulling out all stops to make this a memorable piece of work. As Aphasia nests forever in your consciousness so will this album. Stonus have created a stone cold killer album" Album Review by François Alaouret for ROCK'N FORCE: This beautiful heavy stoner discovery comes from Cyprus, from Nicosia, with stonus who delivers a captivating and psychedelic first album. And the first thing that jumps to the ears is this massive production, yet very airy and perfectly balanced. The Quintet wanted to record "Aphasia" entirely in analog, live and direct catch. Nothing better to capture the vitality of " Nadir ", " dead end " musicians. and it's heard, and it's a real treat! The Cyprus are happy to remind us of the sweet (! ) and authentic sound of a battery, which sounds like a real battery! In fact, the sound of stonus is very roots, and it is a pleasure to feel them almost in the same room. The Intro ("first breath") sets the tone of the album, which promises to be powerful, high and creative. The group is adventure in dry atmospheres as strong as powerful. A world full of warmth. Recorded in Greece, at wreck it sound studios in Corinth, "Aphasia" has a raw, fat, well-mastered, hyper-saturated sound, and yet very heavy and fuzz rock. Far from being apathetic, stonus shows immediately visible energy. From the first notes of " awake, " Nadir " or " Ghost town ", we enter the subject... under a
sun of lead! The seven tracks of the album are of tremendous efficiency, and the maturity of the young band surprises. To Discover urgently!
Head-Banger Reviews:
'Just about everything that’s poured into this seven-track album creates the exact sort of top-tier rock experience that so many people are clamoring for as the heavier end of rock that’s always wreathed in tantalizing riffage, and Stonus delivers in fucking heaps here. In no small way, it’s a record that sets a bar like few others since every inch of what we’re treated to here delivers constantly as Stonus impresses time after time, and, like I said, even though no major ground has been broken here within the confines of “Aphasia”, there’s no denying that what has been created here is special in many of its own ways. So much about what makes “Aphasia” great is in its loyalty to all that is modern rock, and the whole of the record flourishes because of that.'
Outlaws of the Sun Review:
"Aphasia is the hard-rocking and turbo-charged debut album from London based Greek Psych Stoner Rockers – Stonus who operate in the same world as KYUSS, Fu Manchu, Monster Magnet and early QOTSA. If that gets your appetite or engine running then Aphasia is the album you need to listen to.
The production and overall sound of the album is excellent and allows Aphasia to be quite a load and action-packed album indeed. Aphasia has a cool and addictive warm glow to it and feels more like an album you would listen to in the summer with your buddies along with a few beers as well.
Overall, Stonus have released a superbly entertaining record that will hopefully enhance their reputation within the Stoner Rock/Metal community."
Reek of stoom (Doom Charts) APHASIA is yet another deadly weapon in the new Greek Stoner uprising! Chock full of hot Desert licks and molten metal, Stonus carves out seven huge hunks of solid rock and fashion them as idols to the Sun God. https://doomcharts.com/2020/03/02/doom-charts-february-2020/?fbclid=IwAR19tQmS-NimBCcCYbvr0SnwnfzPWfp4CD-JIgbBOx6sOTOYyrJvueNhhdQ
Stonus Séance Reviews:
  1. In an uncool universe, these songs wear sunglasses at night, and for those who slept on the LP last year (like me), they represent a hand of outreach on the part of the band, bidding warm welcome as they chart their particular course through the void. It’s not too late to get on board.
  • The obelisk
  1. It is strange to think of the simply profound effect that “Séance” has had on me with just three tracks, I honestly cannot fault it. Be sure to get STONUS on your radar yesterday!

10/10 'Masterpiece!'

  1. "Séance" allows the Cypriots to show a darker, more aggressive side to their music which is found in the composition of the tracks, especially in the riffs that take your jaw off but also in the vocals. A resolutely punchy EP
  • La Planete du Stoner
  1. Séance acts as further indication that Stonus are a band with a bright, bright future ahead of them!
